Boost Your Home’s Curb Appeal with a Cedar Fence

Why is a Cedar Fence a Worthwhile Investment?

As homeowners, we often ask ourselves three main questions when considering a home project. Is the project necessary? Will we enjoy the final product? And importantly, will the finished product add value to our homes? Today, let’s tackle the last question – does a fence, particularly a Cedar fence, add value and curb appeal to a property?

The Impact of a Well-Maintained Fence on Property Value

A house’s outside space, including the yard, is a crucial aspect of its appeal. A professionally installed and well-maintained Cedar fence can certainly boost your property’s curb appeal and make your home stand out.

However, not all fences are created equal. Over time, Cedar can develop a grey patina due to sun exposure, potentially detracting from your home’s overall appeal. As a homeowner, it’s essential to maintain your Cedar fence properly, which includes regular staining to keep its beautiful wood color vibrant. Conversely, a neglected and decaying fence can hurt your property’s value. However, a new privacy fence not only brings a wow factor to your yard but also signals to potential buyers that they won’t have to deal with the cost of replacing the fence after moving in.

Cedar Fence Transformation: Before and After

Still unsure about the impact a Cedar fence can have? Don’t take my word for it! Take a look at these before and after photos from our recent installations at Draper Fencing Company.

Horizontal fences offer a modern style that can significantly boost your curb appeal.

Shadowbox fences are a traditional style that allows wind to pass through, maintaining privacy while ensuring a finished look on both sides of the fence.

More Than Just Curb Appeal: The Benefits of a Cedar Fence

A Cedar fence doesn’t just enhance curb appeal. It creates a safe space for family gatherings, relaxation, and playtime for your pets or kids. Prospective home buyers often value a fenced-in yard.

Cedar is an excellent material choice for wood privacy fences, thanks to its natural resins that resist bugs and other damaging insects. Its porous nature allows it to dry out evenly, reducing major warping, bowing, or twisting. For more information on the benefits of Cedar, check out our detailed blog post.
