Spring Forward: 5 Reasons to Install Your Fence Before the Season Blooms

by | Jan 29, 2024 | Fencing, McCordsville

I can’t speak for our readers, but when that cold January air hits Indiana the last thing on my mind is backyard BBQs. I prefer a comfy couch and a good movie when the negative temperatures hit. It can be hard to fathom that in just a handful of months, Spring will be in full swing and we will be enjoying green trees and sunny weather.

It is for these very reasons that fence installation is considered a semi-seasonal business. In some states and even in northern Indiana fence installation shuts down completely in the winter months. However here in Central Indiana, it rarely gets cold enough to shut down operations altogether.

Installation Efficiency

Fence Installation

At Draper Fencing Company we feel the seasonality as much as anyone. There are wild fluctuations in the number of customers looking for a fence from November to April. In fact, the number of people we hear from can jump as much as 500% from just January to March. As the sunny days start to come and people get thinking about summer everyone who needs a fence starts calling in.

Why does this matter to you? It matters because this is the biggest reason to install your fence before the season blooms. During the later winter, many fence companies can install your fence in as little as one week! For some fence companies that could go up to 6 weeks as soon as March. That is how large the swing can be!! If you want your fence ready in time to enjoy the spring weather you’ve got to start planning in the winter.

Better Savings

Just before spring comes around is also the time to get the best discounts. As fence companies slow down their suppliers slow down too. Suppliers often offer discounted

materials. Those savings can be passed on to you! Winter discounts can be as high as 3,000! By mid-March, most fence companies will cease offering such great discounts.

Fence Quality

Fence Installation

Another great reason to install your fence before Spring hits is the quality of the fence. At Draper Fencing we continue to install fences during the winter months because we know there is ZERO sacrifice in the quality of the fence by installing it in the winter months. You avoid the crowds, get a great deal, and keep the same quality on your fence project.

Minimize Yard Damage

In fact there is one major advantage to installing during the winter months. The ground is semi-frozen from the temperatures which means the installation of the fence itself will cause less damage to your yard! When the spring rains and warmer weather comes this can mean a saturated yard. While Draper Fencing does everything in our power to minimize the damage, the digging and moving of materials do cause damage to the grass and can muddy up your yard. When the ground is frozen you do not need to worry about such damage.

Contribute to a Year-Round Career

At Draper Fencing Company we strive hard to make fencing a career not just a job. We do not use subcontractors, provide initial and ongoing training, and work hard to keep our team working year-round. When you install during the winter you can take satisfaction that you’re hiring a professional fence company to install the highest quality fence when they need it most! Personally, I find great satisfaction in making sure our team remains gainfully employed over the winter holidays and throughout the year.

To recap the 5 Reasons to Install Your Fence Before the Season Blooms are as follows:

  1. Get your fence fast before the spring BOOM
  2. Get the best deal possible
  3. Keep the same high quality you would get in warmer months
  4. Minimize Damage to your Yard
  5. Help us keep fencing a career not just a job
